




Course Summary
This course is designed to give students a good understanding of the responsibilities of a manager and the techniques they will use to deal with different situations as well as the legal requirements within their role. It is articulated to an MBA so therefore entry requirements will cover both courses.

If your not a permenant U.K resident then you will most likely have to deal with getting a visa.
Luckily, students that study the PDBM are granted Tier 4 visas and if they
decide to study the MBA they will be issued further CAS numbers from our universities.

9 months (this can sometimes vary but needs to be a minimum of 30 weeks)
Starting Dates
We have three starting dates but will be able to have some flexibility. The starting dates are organised for MBA progression. These are September/October for June/July MBA, January start for September MBA and June start for January/February MBA. The length of the course should be 8 - 9 months subject to centre time table but cannot be less than 6 months after registration.
Examination
These will be held three times a year to coincide with MBA applications. Next examination will be start of August 2010

Progression
University of Wales (UWIC) and Edge Hill University will accept students onto an MBA programme with 120 points credit. Students will need to undertake the Research Methods Unit and a Dissertation.
Potential Jobs
Students completing this course will usually work in Management or Administrative roles managing staff
in a variety of different scenarios from small to large businesses.
Assessment
Total Credit for the course is 120 and it has 1200 learning hours.
The students will receive two overall marks one for the unit exam/coursework and another for the Research project.
Students will have to pass both sections.
For the Unit/exam/course work section the marks will be divided up as follows -
- 30% For the final exam - This will be based on a case study with six questions covering all units. (Marked based on 100% and weighted down to 30%)
- 70% for the six (four core and two optional) unit exams/coursework/ discussion reports (Marked based on 100% then weighted down to 11.6% per unit)
- Each question will have equal marks therefore students who have not passed a particular unit exam/coursework etc can make up their marks on the final examination.
- 50% is the pass mark for all units.
The Research Project will be marked separately and students need to achieve 50% pass mark.
Entry Requirements
A UK or equivalent second class if fresh graduate or degree plus 2 years middle management experience. Anyone without a degree must have 4 - 5 years management experience. These entry qualifications will also cover the MBA progression. A normal three year degree will be required for progression to MA in Management.
Students progressing to Edge Hill University are also required to have at least two years work experience gained in a position of responsibility.
The Postgraduate programme is conducted in English and thus candidates are expected to have an acceptable TOEFL or IELTS score if they have not undertaken their previous studies in the language.
Registration within 14 days of start is important as eligibility needs to be confirmed early on.
